My son just got a small simple binocular in birthday present. This brought back memories of when I was a kid, my dad had this big and heavy binocular that I often borrowed to watch animals in the area we lived or even better, look at the moon, amazing how you can see the craters at the edge between light and dark.
We even looked at various nebular clouds and to my big surprise; if the weather is good then you can even see the galaxy Andromeda (Even without binoculars).
So I guess it is time for me to get back to that and check out the night sky. During winter time we got lots of good places here in Switzerland where the sky is very clear.
I just checked out celestron binoculars and they got a LARGE range of Astronomical Binoculars, found one that was pretty cheap and offers zooming! They also got lots of binoculars for other areas such as: Digital camera binoculars, night vision, hunting, theater… oh, and microscopes, also something to get for the kids when they get older.
Guess I might order Barska 10-30×60 Zoom Binoculars one of the next days. Oh, and they offer free UPS shipment.

I remember as a boy always enjoying the experience of looking through my Dad’s binoculars. I think they must date back to the late 1950’s or 60’s. I have them now and they are a prized possesion even though I have a newer and (probably) better pair now.
